Most of you know about our 3-year partnership with 412 Food Rescue. Our year-round Body & Soul runs and summer Hidden Harvest “residency” at Sheridan Orchard in East Liberty are pillars of our community involvement. We are excited to announce the newest arm of our partnership as the Pittsburgh chapter of IfMusic Be The Food, a national chamber music organization with a focus on food insecurity. We will present three chamber music concerts this season. Admission is free, with donations to 412 Food Rescue collected at the door. All donations will go directly to support 412 Food Rescue and the amazing work they do in our local communities.
Please join us for the first concert in the series, which will be 7pm September 15th at Temple Sinai in Squirrel Hill. The program will include David Stock’s Three Yiddish Songsfor soprano and string quartet (performed by Kathy Soroka, Lorien Benet Hart, Claudia Mahave, Stephanie Tretick, Karissa Shivone), Franz Schubert’s Cello Quintet (performed by Jeremy Black, Justine Lamb-Budge, Andrew Wickesberg, Michael DeBruyn, Allie Thompson) and selections for ten-piece brass and percussion ensemble (performed by Micah Wilkinson, Chuck Lirette, Neal Berntsen, Chad Winkler, Bill Caballero, Pete Sullivan, Becky Cherian, Jim Nova, Jeff Dee, Craig Knox, Andy Reamer). The concert will be followed by a meet-and-greet reception with rescued appetizers provided by 412 Food Rescue’s partners.
